The applicant must possess a post-secondary certificate, degree or diploma in Social Work, Psychology or a related field. It is required to have an experience in working with persons with multiple barriers, including mental and physical disabilities.


The Employment Coach is responsible for encouraging, through a coaching methodology, full participation by their clients in employment services targeted to specific client needs. The Employment Coach uses his/her knowledge and expertise in providing employment services for individuals with multiple barriers, including mental and physical disabilities

They will also have knowledge of, and use, various career development models, techniques, and assessments to assess client need, refer to appropriate interventions, support clients through the development of an effective Return to Work Action Plan/Service Plan, and provide information related to the Labour Market and training opportunities.


  • Performs initial and appropriate assessments to determine participants’ job readiness
  • Administers and evaluates specialized assessments, or refers clients to appropriate community service providers to administer assessments, in order to assist in the determination of client barriers and needs
  • Provides participants with program information that targets participants’ barriers to employment, in accordance with program policies and guidelines
  • Makes appropriate referrals which assist in guiding clients in work search, career decision making, training, and/or job maintenance strategies
  • Supports participants as they participate in interventions, following up upon completion and assessing participants’ achievement of stated goals
  • Develops respectful, professional relationships with participants, ensuring participant is feeling that concerns are being heard and respected
  • Provides employment coaching, strategies, tactics, and Labour Market information to clients during client’s job search in order to foster successful employment outcomes
  • Utilizes ministry policy and company procedures when prescribing client interventions, recording data in ICM, and providing general services to clients
  • Manages client appointments and communication, ensuring frequent contact that meets the minimum standards set out in ministry policy
  • Maintains accurate and current case files in ICM, including concise case notes with relevant details that record interactions with clients
  • Provides and documents rationales for intervention decisions in ICM
  • Builds partnerships with employers, community agencies and other stakeholders
  • Provides one-on-one, comprehensive employment and life skills workshops such as: Identifying Skills and Strengths, Creating or Updating Resumes, Presentation/Hygiene tec.
  • Reports and documents client contact, services and progress
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by management
  • French language proficiency considered an asset.
